Composé d'éléments minutieusement brodés à la main, le costume féminin traditionnel est un héritage transmis de génération en génération. Il joue un rôle particulièrement important lors de la célébration de la Saint Lazare, réunion annuelle de toutes les femmes de la maison au cours de laquelle elles initient les petites filles à la cérémonie.
Les filles sont habillées par leurs proches, selon un protocole très précis. Les vêtements deviennent une armure, d’apparence colorée et brillante, mais assez lourde à porter pour le corps. Dans l’agencement de ce costume, le pudgasnić, c’est-à-dire « coussin de fesses », au fil du temps est devenu indispensable. Objet caché, inaccessible, sans aucune valeur esthétique significative, il est attaché près du corps, et joue un rôle primordial de soutien et de « mise en volume anatomique », au service de la forme féminine idéale. Cette norme de beauté s’applique aussi bien aux femmes qu'aux petites filles, durant cette cérémonie, conformément à la tradition d'une communauté bulgare, qui vit à Dudeștii-Vechi, en Roumanie.

Made up of meticulously hand embroidered elements, the traditional female costume is a legacy passed from one generation to the next. It plays a particularly prominent role during the celebration of Saint Lazarus, an annual gathering of all the women in a household during which they initiate small girls in the celebration.
The girls are dressed by their loved ones, following a very precise order. The clothes become an armour, colourful and brilliant from outside, but quite heavy to carry for the body. In the construction of this costume, the pudgasnić, a.k.a. the booty pillow, became in time indispensable. This object is hidden from sight and it has no significant aesthetic value, but it is attached close to the body, playing a paramount role in supporting and creating the ideal female shape, otherwise unattainable. This standard of beauty is applied to woman and by default to small girls, during the celebration, according to the tradition of a Bulgarian community living in Dudeştii-Vechi, Romania.
